Y'know, I don't usually kick things off with a humblebrag, but today? Well, today, I'm feeling just feisty enough.

Here's the thing: Most of us have heard of both GDPR and ChatGPT, right? (The acronyms. They're endless.) They're both significant topics. So, reconciling them into a comprehensive article about where they intersect and why is no short order.

But alas, it's a task many in our industry have taken on since Italy's data protection authority ordered a moratorium on ChatGPT for users there (with other nations rumored to be following suit) – largely due to alleged GDPR violations. Ergo: the magnanimous reconciliation.

So that's where my humblebrag comes in. (Sorry, not sorry.) I wanted to highlight one of my favorite pieces that we’ve recently published, from Associate News Editor Kristi Hines, which does just that: explains, in less than 1,000 words, why this ruling is significant, and what it could mean for the future of data protection and generative AI alike.
